Strength for Heavy-Duty Drives
Alloy steel bevel gears are for drives where carbon steel would wear out too quickly or break under shock. The alloying elements let the steel harden deeper and stay tough, so the gear lasts longer under load.
Steels and Treatment
We cut bevel gears from EN19 and EN24 for hardened and tempered duty, and from case-hardening steels such as 20MnCr5 and SAE 8620 where a hard surface is wanted over a tough core. For larger gears we use forged blanks.
Straight and Spiral
Both straight and spiral bevel teeth can be made in alloy steel. If your drive runs fast or must be quiet, choose alloy steel spiral bevel gears. For slow drives, straight teeth in alloy steel are a simple and strong choice.
Quality Checks
Each gear is checked for dimensions and hardness, and a set is checked for tooth contact against its mate. A material certificate can be supplied.
