Precision spiral bevel gear manufacturing is a controlled sequence rather than a single cutting operation. The process should connect design intent, material condition, machining accuracy, heat treatment and final inspection.

1. Engineering review

Drawings, CAD data, samples and application conditions are reviewed for module, tooth count, ratio, shaft angle, pressure angle, spiral geometry, bore, face width and accuracy requirements.

2. Material selection and verification

The material is selected for load, speed, environment and heat-treatment needs. Incoming material verification helps control the foundation of the finished component.

3. CNC blank machining

Turning and milling establish critical blank geometry and datums before tooth generation.

4. Spiral tooth generation

Specialized gear-cutting processes produce the spiral tooth form. Process control is essential for repeatability and contact quality.

5. Heat treatment

Depending on the design, carburizing, case hardening, induction hardening, nitriding or through hardening may be specified.

6. Finish machining and grinding

Critical dimensions and tooth surfaces are finished to achieve the required accuracy and surface condition.

7. Inspection and contact verification

Inspection can include dimensional checks, tooth profile and pitch evaluation, runout, hardness, surface finish and gear contact pattern verification.

8. Protection and dispatch

Finished gears are cleaned, protected and packed to reduce the risk of transport damage.

Technical note: Final gear design, material, heat treatment and inspection requirements should be confirmed against the actual application and customer specification.
